Hell Guys, here is my issue. we brought up a new 2008 DC to installed exchanged, transfered roles. went to dcpromo the old 2003 server out, went wll until I tried to launch Outlook,error some back can't find Global catalog server on the exchange server. so had to dcpromo old server back online to get back up and running. How can I tell the new server to go tot he new domain controller. I have right clicked on managed domain controller and have selected my new DC, but when you look at the system property tab my OLD server is still listed. Any idea's?

Please don't install Exchange and DC on the same server. You'll regret this later.

If you actually installed Exchange on a GC (shouldn't do that BTW), you have to open TCP:6004 for NTDS.Kron

Hi, As Jose mentioned, it’s not recommended to install Exchange 2007 on a DC directly. However, if you still would like to install it on a DC and replace the old DC, please focus on the following manners. 1. First please ensure that all the AD related roles has been all transfer to the new DC/GC. 2. Please ensure that the new DC/GC has replicated all the information from the old one. 3. Try to turn off the old one, and then monitor if Exchange can work normally. 3. Once everything is running, you could then go ahead and run dcpromo to demote the DC and remove it from the domain.
