2 Exchange 2007 Servers : Which one is the default?
Hi all, I added a second Exchange Server 2007 in my organisation with all the same items (mailbox, hub and Client access ) configured. Since that, for some reasons, user get conencted to the new server even if it is in another physical site. I'd like to know what defines the default server for an user's mailbox? Best regards, Johnny

Unless you have clustering enabled, the mailbox can only live on one server. When you say users get connector to the new server, what exactly do you mean?

I mean that Outlook uselly connected to the Exchange Server where de user's malbox is. But sometimes, Outlook try to or connect to the second server which isn't in the same physical site.

Ok, are there public folders on that second server? Shared mailboxes? Where are you seeing this connection to the second server?

No public folders and no shares mailboxes. It happens when Outlook start and ask to enter credentials to connect on the secon server. And when User try to send, it is refused by the second server which is normal because I didn't configure the second server to be able to relay.

Hi John, - >It happens when Outlook start and ask to enter credentials to connect on the secon server. In my opinion, it seems that the client to connect to the cas serfer role in the second site, because the client would connect to the gc and catch the scp record, and then connect the cas server, it would pop up you to enter credentials, so please check the authentication method on the second server IIS website. - > And when User try to send, it is refused by the second server which is normal because I didn't configure the second server to be able to relay. I am not very understand your mean, as normal, if the user's mailbox on the first server, when it use outlook to send email internal netwok, it would use the first mailbox server, and the hub server's connector, so please confirm you have configure proper connector between the two sites, and have cnofigured properly the new server. Hi John, If your Active Directory forest contains multiple sites, make sure that you take some time to plan your transition. Kindly sugest that you could get some information from below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb266974(EXCHG.80).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123567(EXCHG.80).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124920(EXCHG.80).aspx You also could use exbpa to check the routing connector configured properly.
