550 5.1.1 User unknown
I have an SBS 2003 server and have sucsesfully added multiple emails domains to it. I am attempting to add a second email doamin on a clients SBS 2003 server. I have added the domain name to the recipient policy and have ensured it was checked. I have verified the domain shows up on the users property pages and in also enabled. I have verified the mx record is pointing to the correct IP. I can send email to dsipp@domain1.net which is the original and primary domain. When I send to dsipp@domain2.com (newly added domain name), I recieve the following error:Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: dsipp@domain2.com Technical details of permanent failure:Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.1.1 User unknown: dsipp@domain2.com (state 14). ----- Original message ----- Received: by 10.150.170.2 with SMTP id s2mr2660817ybe.222.1257340712420; Wed, 04 Nov 2009 05:18:32 -0800 (PST)Return-Path: <dcsipp@gmail.com>Received: from P4 (99-70-89-241.lightspeed.rcsntx.sbcglobal.net [99.70.89.241]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id 6sm402134ywc.9.2009.11.04.05.18.30 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=RC4-MD5); Wed, 04 Nov 2009 05:18:31 -0800 (PST)From: David Sipp <dcsipp@gmail.com>To: <dsipp@domain2.com>Subject: test 718 amDate: Wed, 4 Nov 2009 07:18:31 -0600Message-ID: <000901ca5d51$4f215880$ed640980$@com>MIME-Version: 1.0Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_000A_01CA5D1F.0486E880"X-Mailer: Microsoft Office Outlook 12.0Thread-Index: AcpdUU1qjzhHrkjBQIaJ2xpXMmvHwQ==Content-Language: en-usNames are spelled correct as verified by being able to send to name@domain1.netIdeas?Regards,Dsipp

what is the actual name of "domain2.com"? When did you configure the MX record? has it taken effect? if you do an NS lookup, do you get an answer?Susan Conkey [MVP]

Or did you assign a 2nd SMTP proxy address (dsipp@domain2.com)to the mailbox with the SMTP address dsipp@domain1.net?The error says that the user is unknown, not that the message wasrejected because relaying isn't allowed (which is what you should getif you don't have the recipient policy set correctly).---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP--- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

In addition to others do you have any kind of Antispam server between exchnage and internet? You need to make sure that you have allowed relay for the new domainVinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
