552 Message size exceeds maximum permitted
We are using Exchange Server 2003 and are experiencing a problem with large attachments.
The user is sending a message with a 21MB attachment, and the user is receiving a bounce back.
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

552 Message size exceeds maximum permitted
The Global Setting is set to 51200KB. There is no Connector limit, SMTP Virtual Server limit or User Mailbox limit. They are all set to no limit, or default which would use the Global limit.
The limit is twice the size of the message being sent, so why is it being stopped?
Thanks for your assistance.

1. What is rejecting the message, Exch or another smarthost?
2. Have you got any AV on your Exch which may be causing this?
3. Is this issue for all users or some?
4. Same issue via OWA?
5. Tried online mode rather then cache?
6. Issue just occured or 1st time sending an attachment of that size?
7. Using any smarthosts?Sukh

Problem found. They were using a 3rd party smtp server for their outgoing mail. Sometimes it's the simple things.
