553 Requested action not taken: mailbox name not allowed or chunk too large
Hi, We have an external client who is trying to send an email to us but she keeps getting bounce back which says: 553 Requested action not taken: mailbox name not allowed or chunk too large The client has informed us that they are recieving this bounceback only when sending an email to us. I have also that she has an email address with an appostrophy that she is sending from which I always thought was not allowed in exchange. If this is a valid address is there something that we can do from our end to allow this emails to come through.

Hi, Is there a gatelevel email scanning or not, in case yes then added this email address on safe sender list there then also add the same in safe sender list in exchange, for exchange 2007 try : Set-ContentFilterConfig -BypassedSenders foo@somedomain.com,foo2@somedomain.com Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

I will ask the question if there is or not since I'm new at this company but could it be that the firewall is blocking emails with appostrophies.

Hi, I don't think it firewall, it may be due to exchange 2003 itself, have a look into these article : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841091 http://www.terminally-incoherent.com/blog/2008/03/20/apostrophe-in-the-email-address/ http://forums.msexchange.org/m_30562000/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm#30562000 http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/netfxnetcom/thread/84dd5b66-f68d-4b0c-823f-25aa7c7b4d6bRipu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

Hi kam247, Please confirm with the client user, which the email address she sent. This issue may occur if your email address includes an apostrophe (`) or other character. Please refer to : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2015194 Hope it helpful to you!
