8.3 file name support
Hello all, I ran into a weird error message yesterday and was wondering if you guys could shed some light... "The destination does not support long file names". This happened while copying a file from one folder to another on the same server (Windows 2003), same drive, same directory. I did a few searches, but have yet to come up with anything related. The client PC was XP SP2. The only thing I saw that was odd was a few errors in Event viewer related to time sync. Will an invalid time on a client cause this type of error? Thank you in advance, Tim

You will probably have better luck getting this answered on one of the Windows XP forums. Try looking for one of the Windows XP groups at http://groups.google.com

I think it may be related to the time stamp on the XP machine. Both drives are formatted NTFS and the user is always moving files b/w these directories. First time this error has occurred and hasn't happened since. I would just like to know why... Thanks again, Tim
