ASP.NET applications pools missing

I'm running Exchange 2010 in Active Passive DAG with two CAS/HT servers using array. Am on SP3 RU8. Two asp.net application pools are missing on my active MB server and still present on passive MB server. I have no idea how or why these pools disappeared. Any help with why and how? And, I also need some help fixing it as it will not allow a local powershell session to run on the active MB server so can't run dag maintenance scripts.  Also, not sure what else it is effecting?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

You have posted in an Exchange 2013 forum.  The Exchange previous versions forums are here:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/exchangeserverlegacy

The best advice I can give you is to remove and reinstall.  If you don't want to do that and you don't get better advice here, Microsoft might be able to help you if you open a support ticket.

Hi,

Please try the following steps to resolve this issue

  1. open a command prompt as administrator
  2. change into the .NET Framework 4.0 directory: cd C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\
  3. run aspnet_regiis.exe ir:

Best Regards.

Lynn-Li,

Thank you for the information.  There is quite a bit of data missing from the v4.0 folder, including the "aspnet_regiis.exe file.  Would it be safe to copy in the v4.0 folder contents from my passive mail server to replace the missing contents in the v4.0 folder on my active mailbox server?  Or, is there a better course of action?

Thanks,

Greg

Hi,

In my opinion, it's safe to do that.

Just in case, if I were, I will back up the v4.0 folder in active mailbox server.

Best Regards.

Hello,

Just confirming before I pull the trigger...it is safe to delete the V4.0 folder on my active mailbox server (after doing a back-up of course) and then paste-in the folder as copied from my passive mailbox server?  There's no server specific data contained in the v4.0 files, like a SID or other server specific ID?

I'll then need to run aspnet_regiis.exe ir, correct?

Also, will a reboot be required?

Again, many thanks for the help.

Ed,

Thanks for the link to the correct forum.  I'll be sure to post there in the future.  Also, thanks for the suggested fix.
