A rule synchronization error (Disk IO error) has occurred. Error ID 1148
We are getting Error ID 1148 on our active Exchange Server. (We are running CCR cluster.) The problem is showing up on our Active node. The User Action tells us to "Use the Eseutil utility with the /r (recovery switch) to check for corruption." The problem with that is we have over 30 Mail stores and we have to dismount each one to find the problem. Right now all our Mail stores are showing mounted and healthy. I hate to start taking down mailstore. It's bit like looking for a needle in hay stack. Is ther way of getting more information on where the problem is?????????

If you fail your DB's over to the passive node do you still get the same 1148 errors? If not I would leave them on the passive node and re-seed the active node.

I have not attempted the fail over yet. My guess was that might be corrupted also.

We did move the cluster last night and that cleared the problem. We were also having a problem with OutLook not sending delayed messages. That also cleared up at the same time. Thank you for the help. I still have a question. What could have caused the probem. One thing I was doing this week was attempting to restore from backups. I had several problem with that. Could this have caused the problem????????????

Can you be more specific on your restoration process? As far as why corruption happens hard to say and could be a number of factors. The one good thing about CCR and even more so in a DAG is that corruption on only one copy is easy to fix by re-seeding from a non-corrupted copy.Exchange & Powershell Geek View my MCP Certifications
