A work around
Hi All
I have a configured exchange 2003 that is using an internal domain "x.com"
Users need to send email to y@x.com but this email is not a part of the organization.
The exchange prevent them from sending an email to y@x.com because it is authoritative for the domain "x.com" and y@x.com is not configured on this exchange.
How can i work around this problem?

Yes, all you described is right. Buts thats the way Exchange works.
There is no way to send an Email to a Domain which your Excange Server is responsible for outside of the same Exchange Server.regards Thomas Paetzold visit my blog on: http://sus42.wordpress.com

The first post in this thread is incorrect.
While Exchange 2003 by default presumes it is responsible for all email for a domain, it is certainly possible to have email delivered to another server. This is known as Sharing the SMTP address space and is covered by this KB article:
