Abnormal behavior of exchange server SOS
I have exchange server 2003 I have 30 users CAL but I have atleast 100 mailbox. all users using defalut pst in thier computer to retrive all mails direcltly from server to their computers instead of ost fils.only few users are using .ost file to keep their data into server, size of mail box (ost) is 4.5 GBin the server but it shown database size 12.9 GB. I am Continuously facing problem that every morning I restart my server because mail are stuck, MAPI (outlook) client not able toreceive mail. Kindly help me out how I resolve my problem.
1) there is any problem of my database size ?
2) there is any problem in my CAL ?
3) I run ofline defrag my exchange server but only 1 GB has decrease how i reduce my database size or what is database size limit ?
4) what is the best analyser or monitoring tools are available

Exchange 2003 standard edition dismounts the store at 16GB before SP2 and 18GB after SP2, which can be increased to 75GB. This means your 12.9GB is not an issue.
Furthermore look in for event 1221 in your Application log. This will let you know how much space you have to be gained by a defrag. Note that this reports on the Public folder DB as well as the Private stores (in separate event logs)
CALs would not have any effect on MAPI

What does the event log report on the server and user workstation?
Are there any services stopped?
What does it mean "MAPI (outlook) client not able toreceive mail"? Please explain more about what the symptoms are.
