Account with disabled Exchange Features can still send email from Outlook
Hi, We are running Exchange 2003. I have disabled Outlook Mobile Access, User Initiated Synchronization, Up-to-date Notifications, Outlook Web Access, POP3 and IMAP4 for one account on the Exchange Features tab in Active Directory. That account is NOT able to log into OWA, but is still able to send emails using Outlook. We want to prevent the user from being able to access their account to send and receive emails. The user must still be able to log into computers on the domain, so disabling the account completely in AD is not an option. They also need to have access to this mailbox restored at a later date. We only want to remove access temporarily. Thanks in advance, Daniel

Disable Mapi features M outlook is using MAPI. I do not have a test PC to check for settings but remove send as and receive rights from that mailbox if you are not able to disable MAPI access

You can remove the Full mailbox rights for the user and also assign yourself or anyother person the required rights.

Since this is Exchange 2003, its a little bit different. You can disable mapi access: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2005/07/27/408274.aspx or set the mailbox deleted retention time to some large number, delete the mailbox and reconnect when needed per: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/274343
