Activating Sending and Receiving email to and from the internet (SMTP)
Hi, could anyone help me or illuminate me regarding the above subject. I had a design for small business and i used Exchange server 2007 for emails. I have to activate it to and frm the outsideworld so i can receive and send emails from the internet. My point is, upon reading the process/guidelines from Microsoft technet, i've read that one requirements after setting MX record and Host A record is to build up an SMTP server which would handle the email exchange from the internet. I'm bit confused then about SMTP, is it another server i have to install in different computer? or is it already available from my CAS or Hub transport that only i have to do is activated by adding it from the windows 2008 features? These confusion arouse when i'm going to publish it, i need to put the smtp server address? which is which? Is Client access server has already smtp server? and is CAS is the same as SMTP server? please can you help me for this and appreciate much if you have further explanations. Thanks in advance.

Hi, For exchange 2007 and 2010, the hub transport server integrates the SMTP service into "Exchange Transport Service". So we do not need to install the additional SMTP service. It uses receive connector to receive the Internet mails. And use send connector to send the Internet mails.
