Active Directory Preparation

Dump question but i have to ask.

I am currently upgrading our exchange from 2007 (active) to exchange 2013. We have 3 DC's that currently run active directory. I am installing exchange 2013 on a windows 2012 standard server. There is a part that lists the following,

"The computer you want to use to prepare Active Directory for Exchange 2013 has specific prerequisites that must be met.

Install the following software on the computer that will be used to prepare Active Directory:

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
  • Windows Management Framework 3.0 "

Does that mean i have to install Framework on the domain controllers that are running active directory already or the new windows server 2012 that doesn't have AD installed?

No, you just need to open Server Manager and add/enable these features on the machine where you are running Setup.exe /PrepareAd.

See - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691354(v=exchg.150).aspx

This will update the schema. Also, the machine needs to be part of the domain and logged on with Domain/Enterprise Admin.

Open command prompt with elevated privileges, before running this command.
