Add a Backup Exchange Server
My existing Exchange server 2003 hangs frequently and I think it is not going to stay alive very long. I need to set up a backup Exchange server so that when the old one dies, I can have another one (with updated mailbox) up quickly. This new Exchange
server will be kept offline (services disabled) until the old one phases out. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to achieve this? Please tell me the step by step procedure to do this. Thanks in advance.

hello
You can keep both exchange servers in co-existance the best way is to migrate from your old exchange 2003 to 2010
Here is the procedure for Upgrading your Exchange server from 2003 to 2010

I can neither upgrade it to 2010 nor keep them co-exist because of license issue. To install another Exchange 2003 on another server and configure it so that the 2 exchange server have the same configuration is a decision from above and I have
no choice but to stick with it. Please let me know what is the best way to achieve it without interrupting the operation of the existing email server. Thanks

Ever consider moving your Exchange to either 2007 or 2010.
