Add additional mailbox from different OU
Hi I like to add a additional mailbox from another organization (but same server) to my outlook. The problem is that the mailbox cannot be found. (full permission given). What can I do? Best regards Anacrusis

Does the mailbox appear in the GAL that you can see from Outlook? If it does, then you should be able to open the mailbox. Exactly what permissions were granted? If it does not, then you will have to use the DN for the mailbox to open it. The DN is mentioned in this KB article. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=142781 Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hi Simon and thank you for your answer No, it does not. How can I add it to this list? I gave Full Access Permission by using Exchange Management Console. EDIT: I tried to user the whole D in Tools->Account-Settings->Advanced->Add Mailbox But it ends with same error: Name cannot be matched with name in address list. Best regards

The GAL generates automatically. The only way that an item doesn't appear in the GAL is if the option to hide it from the GAL is enabled on the user account, or GAL segregation has been implemented. GAL segregation isn't something you can in error, so you would know if you had done that. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

But as I can see, only the users within the same organization are listed when I open the GAL from customer's outlook?

So this is a multi-tenant or segregated GAL implementation? It would have helped if you stated that at the beginning. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

In my first post I wrote, that I want to access a mailbox from another organization. I thought that this is the significant info. First mailbox is located in this org: exchange.com/mylabel/TTR/organization1.com/ Second in: exchange.com/mylabel/TTR/organization2.com/ So, normally every org just can see it's won member mailboxes. But in this case I have to realize this cross-access. Best regards Anacrusis

You will need some form of Gal Sync to see other organization's GAL entries. This will require something that copies a few attributes from each org to the other and creates them in AD as contacts. This will allow you to see them in your GAL even though they do not exist in your organization. Forefront Identity Manager can do this but that can be a complex product to deal with just for GAL sync. You may want to check out 3rd party tools such as Simplesync. Be aware this will require trusts to be configured between the forests. And if you are wanting to do availability sharing between orgs you will need to be sure Autodiscover is accessible from the outside via autodiscover.yoursmtpdomain.com (same goes for the other organization) for it to work. Using SRV records externally for it wasnt supported, nor would it work last time I tried it. Check out these articles: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123546.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124122.aspx (Availability Address space...you will need to configure this as well)Chris Morgan Blog

Hi Chris Thank you for this links, but I think that that is not really a option for me. We habe a multi-tenant structure build by HMC. So, it's definitely not possible to access other mailbox by FullPermission if it's integrated in another organization? (without using a sync tool) Best regards Anacrusis

At minimum you will need a trust between the two in order to give permissions across the org's. That's a must. the GAL sync is just so the address book on both sides are identical and users can easily look up the users in the other org.Chris Morgan Blog
