Add hotmal.com and outlook.com alias to Outlook 2013?

Hello everyone,

for some reason I never used Outlook 2013 before. I'm starting to use it but I'm having some problems with it.

I have a main e-mail (@hotmail.com) and I have an alias I created a few months ago (@outlook.com).

The problem is that I don't know how to add both accounts, so I can receive all my emails and send with both emails. If I add both accounts, I have duplicated folders since both e-mail accounts share the same folders.

And if I add just one account so I won't have duplicated folders, I cannot send emails using the other email name.

Can anyone help me?

Best.

In order to be able to send via both accounts they need to be configured in Outlook as distinct accounts, but you should be able to confirm the second mailbox to use the same data file as the first one, so while it will be listed as a mailbox it won't actually contain any messages.

When you setup the second mailbox, assuming you're setting it up using the manual method, have you set "Deliver new messages to:" to use Existing Outlook Data File? If not once it's created you can do it if you go to the E-mail Accounts list, select the second mailbox, click "Change Folder" and select the other mailbox as the delivery location. Note, this handles all mail "delivery" including sent items, not just messages coming into the inbox.

Oh, and if both of them are the same mailboxes (eg you have two connections to the same mailbox), then you'd also want to adjust your send & receive group to not receive messages for the second group. Go into send and receive groups, select the second mailbox, click edit and then uncheck Receive mail items.
