Adding A Second Edge Server That Will Be In A Second Location?
Our company is in the process of moving servers to a data center in Atlanta far from the threat of hurricanes we have in south Florida. So far we have moved a DC on Windows 2008 and a SQL server and all are working fine. The next step will be moving the Exchange server. My question is with the new Edge server that is in Atlanta. Right now it is in the rack but the Edge server role has not been installed. My understanding is the new Edge server will mailbag for 48 hours or 500K emails whichever comes first giving a time window to FedEx the current Exchange server from Florida to Atlanta and connect and therefore restoring the flow of email. Questions: 1. Is there any other way for mailbagging that someone can recommended? 2. When adding a second Edge server in Atlanta is it going to make any changes that will change the current configuration in Florida. One article I read warned of overwriting all configuration and I dont want to do that. I am only adding a *second* Edge server that will come on line when the DNS is change and the mail flow heads for Atlanta. I need both Edge servers working at the same time. Or is there a better way to go about this task?

There's a good article on the Exchange Team blog discussion mulitple nodes across the many Exchange 2007 roles: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/01/04/432069.aspx Good luck with the move, as although Atlanta has no hurricanes it also has no gasoline!
