Adding New CAS Server
Thanks ahead of time for any help you can provide.
I have a single Exchange 2007 server with mailbox, hub, and CAS roles. There is a valid certificate on the server and users have no problem accessing it from the Internet or internally.
I installed a new Exchange 2007 Server with the HUB and CAS roles in a remote site. I want to remove the CAS role from the original server in favor of the new one, but I would like to be able to run two functioning CAS servers to allow time to work out migration issues due to DNS changes, etc . Is this possible? What steps do I take to move the CAS role to the new server? What about the certficate, setting identities via EMS, etc?
I have not done anything to modify the new CAS/HUB server since installing Exchange. Thanks again for any advice!

Yes, that's possible. However, what do you mean by "remote site" in your post? Do you mean a different Active Directory site? Hopefully not, as the 2nd CAS will need to be in the same AD site as the first in order for it to be seen and used by the mailbox server role. You'll need a new certificate of course as the FQDN will change.Neil Hobson, Exchange MVP

Hi,Please understand that you must have the Client Access server role installed in every Active Directory site within your organization that contains an Exchange 2007 server that has the Mailbox server role installed. Thus, I don't recommend removing the CAS role from the original server.ThanksAllen
