Currently we own a domain name that is hosed by our web hosting agency. We are changing our web site to one that does not host mail and I need to bring the web based email domain onto our current Exchange 2003 server. I was able to add the new domain to our server but the web hosting site is telling me that we currently use their dns servers and theirfore they have to change their mx records to reflect the fact that all of their links now point to our server. Eventually we will quit that web host entirely so I don't believe this is the solution for me. Do I need to add the mx records on my DNS Server as well or will this just confuse everything. Thanks

You dont add MX records onto any of your internal DNS servers. You do need to make sure that the DNS that I might see, i.e. anything on the Internet doing queries, has the DNS corrected to get to your location. Thank you for your input. I agree with your assessment. I have added the new domain under the recipient policies in Exchange and will allow the current web host to point the mx records to us. In the future I will have our ISP add the mx records. thank you.Rhonda Siner
