Adding a second exchange server (2003)
How do i install a second exchange 2003 server , right next to the first exchange 2003 server? I've been googling and reading alot off topics/tutorials ,but neither one explains it. Ive installed 2003 enterprise server with the following roles : Domain controller (active directory)/Aplication server/DNS server/DHCP server. But if i want to ad a second exchange server to the organization that i've created the first time when installing the first server , does the new 2003enterprise server has to join the domain? Or can i create a new domain? Its all installed on vmware. And what further steps are needed? Just need a push in the right direction.

Hi (1) What purpose do you have for the second exchange server? You may setup the second exchange server in the same domain and site in exchange org; or also setup in different site and the same domain; or setup in the same site and different domain in the same exchange org; (2) do you need to deploy FE and BE for your env? We also recommend : its better to separate to setup for exchange server and DC; Please read the following link , hope it helps ; FE and BE topology guide for exchange 2003 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996980(EXCHG.65).aspx exchange 2003 deploying overview http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997492(EXCHG.65).aspx if anything is unclear , please free time to let me know, -Jack

Nothing better than a tech that wants to learn! Good luck and God speed in this endeavor. You will really like the online webcasts on Exchange 2003 and other products offered from Microsoft. Please take time to review the offerings at: http://www.microsoft.com/webcasts or my personal favorite starting point (formatted by product and tech type): http://www.microsoft.com/events/series/default.mspx I have found using the webcasts provides a quicker learning curve. Regards, Jeremy
