Admin
Hello,I recently changed my administrator account password to blank. This is the only account that accesses this box. I now get the error message of "Unable to Log you on because of an account restriction." I cannot remotely manage this server or remotely change its registry to make any of the recommended changes. I have tried adding another box in the same "workgroup" with the same administrator account; however I still do not have access to this server. Is there any way to change the administrator password for this server. I am supporting this server remotely. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, In order to remotely manage a server through Remote Desktop Connection (RDP), you need to have a password in place.removing the admin password is not recommended because of security issues. If you can't approach the server physically and change the password, then try to logon by using the /Console Switch. i think this will allow you to logon remotely even with blank password, but this is one connection only at a time. go to run, then type the following: mstsc /console then type the IP Address or the FQDN, or Server name, then connect, when you connect to the server immediatly change the password from Blank password, to secure your server too. please let me know if this post helped you or not. I assume there are no other accounts on that box? if so, you could use one of them to reset the admin password. you could also try computer management on another computer and choosing to connect to the affected computer. if these are in a "workgroup" you might be prompted for authentication, which may not work either with a blank password, but worth a shot. there are no trusted users on site, to create a password for you? rdp isnt picky, any password will do.
