After moving to new server old Exchange 2010 SP2 dB size not reduced
Hi I moved all users from one exchange 2010 SP2 Server to another exchange 2010 SP2 so all MBX are on new server. However old server still retains 800G edb files (: same as before move) and some 10G log files. I am in process of removing the first server bit apprehensive remove it from exchange organisation. If you can shed light to why I still have full edb on this server Is there anything I should do before I uninstall Exchange server role Many thanks in advance. VITP

Hi The original database will contain soft deleted copies of all the mailboxes you moved from it until the retention period expires. Even at that point the EDB file will not reduce in size automatically, you would need to perform an offline defrag (eseutil /d) for that to happen. Was this the first database in your 2010 organisation and if it was did you move the arbitration mailboxes already? Cheers, Steve
