Alias not updating?
Hi all,Recently we had a user who had their last name spelt incorrectly in AD. The helpdesk renamed the user, but the old alias is still showing up when writing emails to this user. If you type the users username in outlook, and hit ctrl+k, the name auto resolves. What else am i supposed to change in AD for the alias to show up correctly. I cant find the user under their new alias/username - only the old.

I check/change the following in AD DS when a name is misspelled: last name, display name, user login name (both pre-Windows 2000 and UPN), Exchange alias, and SMTP proxy addresses. In this case the Exchange alias is likely your problem, especially if your HelpDesk did a right-click rename on the user object.Doing sowon't update the Exchange alias.

If you updated everywhere in AD but still in GAL it shows old name, check in OWA or in Outlook with online mode.
If it shows in OWA/Outlook Online mode then it is problem of OAB and in that case refer below article to update OAB and download in to Outlook from Send/Receive method mentioned in it (article says for new user but applies when you do modification for existing users also...)

Also consider deleting Outlook's .NK2 file. It's the recently used names cache.

Hi,
AutoComplete begins to suggest possible matches based on names you have typed before. So it could be a outlook client side issue.
We can delete the invalid auto complete suggesting. Using the keyboard, select the invalid name using the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW keys and then click delete button.
Besides, you can delete .NK2 file to clear the client side cache.
Please delete Profilename.NK2 file in C:\Users\profilename\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook and then reboot the client server.Regards,Xiu
