Ambigious Mailbox GUID in Exchange message
Hi I have the following Event ID error in my Exchange 2003 SP2 server, however can't seem to find much on the Net about it? ID: 9536 An ambiguous Mailbox Guid xxxwas found on 0x2 mailboxes in the DS. The store cannot map this Mailbox Guid to a unique user. Does anyone know how I can find out what this GUID relates to?

Hi, In this case, the error message pointed to two users with the same mailbox GUID. When searching the GUID using advanced search , the result showed only the one user who definitely owned the mailbox. Using guidfind, a tool from MS, the query displayed another user object. Inspecting the user object via ADSIEdit the msExchMailboxGUID attribute was empty though the legacyExchangeDN was set to "ADCDisabledMail". After clearing this attribute, the mailbox rights showed up again and e-mails were being relayed again. Regards,

Hi,
The issue can be caused by more than one mailbox is using the same GUID. The store cannot convert the mailbox GUID to a distinguished name because of the redundancy. So we need to identify the objects which has the incorrect GUID, then either delete and recreate the object or disable or take other steps to reset the mail information.
Thanks,
Elvis
