Anti-spam updates problem
Greetings, I have an issue with the anti-spam updates on my Exchange 2007. They are configured that way: [PS] P:\>Get-AntispamUpdates UpdateMode : AutomaticLatestContentFilterVersion : 3.3.5527.600SpamSignatureUpdatesEnabled : TrueLatestSpamSignatureVersion : 3.3.5527.590IPReputationUpdatesEnabled : TrueLatestIPReputationVersion : 3.3.5527.033MicrosoftUpdate : Configured and the Automatic Updates are turned off since I update the server manually once a month. If I go to the Microsoft Update web site and scan for updates, the new anti-spam definitions appear (since they are updated quite often) and I can install them without any problems. But when the MSExchange Anti-spam service tries to get those update, I get the following error in the event log: Microsoft Exchange couldn't successfully use the Microsoft Update agent: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80244019. Please see http://update.microsoft.com and update your client manually. Anti-spam updates will not be downloaded until this problem is fixed. And what I want is to contiunue to update my server manually (Automatic Updates turned off), but the Anti-spam updates to install automatically without having to download them manually every day. Please help! Thanks in advance, Lubo.

Let us know if this solves your problem, I have seen this, too. I assumed it was an HTTP proxy issue since it could be done interactively, but not via the antispam updates service. Are you going out to the Internet via an HTTP proxy?

I solved the problem. There was an error in my first post. The mentioned problem concerned our client's Exchange 2007 server, not mine. Mine is working fine. Anyway... The problem was that they had a forgotten Group Policy applying to the Exchange server (and who knows where else) that was used for SUS/WSUS settings. They actuallly no more use SUS/WSUS (I don't know why since it does a great jot). But the Group Policy is still there and point the computers to a server that is no more a SUS/WSUS server. So when the MSExchangeAntispamUpdate triesto get the anti-spam updates it tries to contact a server that doesn't provide the auto-update service and logged the error. I found that reading throung the c:\WINDOWS\WindowsUpdate.log file. Hope that helps someone too. Lubo.
