Apply rules to sent distribution group mails

Dear all,

i have a small question you may have the answer to.

i'm using a exchange in combination with outlook 2010

the distribution group and "send as" is already properly configured.

so the "info" mailbox can send as a "distributiongroup" mail adress.

i'm applying rules to the mailbox that any mail recieved from the distributiongroup gets saved into a separate folder "distributiongroup IN" but now the client wants all the outgoing mails to go to the separate folder "distributiongroup OUT"

any idea's how i can fix this since i cannot find any rule that would allow such a thing (since it's a distribution/security group and not a mailbox)

kind regards

Hello,

You can create the rule from Outlook. Create Rule->Advance Options->Create a rule, when sent to 'distribution group address' move to "distributiongroup OUT" folder

sadly it's not when that person is sending to 'distribution group address' but it's when that person is sending from the distribution group address when we want to move the mail to the "OUT" folder

Actually, there is no Outlook rule available to handle this. You may do a 'work around' to handle this.

1. Create a transport rule on exchange to check the from field as the distribution group address and set a BCC Recipient as the client's email address

2.  This will check any messages sent, and if it matches the sent filter from the address you want, it will forward the same mail to the sender

3. Set a rule on incoming on that inbox to move that to the required folder

I added a transport rule that sends the mail back to the distribution group

then i added a mail rule in outlook that sends all the mails that are recieved from that distribution group e-mail into the "OUT" box

so your solution works like a charm!

thank you!
