Assessment for Setting Up the Exchange 2010 Infrastructure
Hi All, I got a new assignment for Setting up the Infrastructure for 5000 Users approx. Now the scenario is The ORG already using POP3 to access the email in Microsoft Outlook 2007 and Mobile. Now here the question is assessment of the Existing Email Usage and hosting Vendor is no more supporting us. I am not sure if i can achieve it by using the PST Capture and can have atleast Total PST Usage within the ORG and Size of the Standard Folderwise. Please suggest what could be best approach for getting the storage Size, Avg Send/Receive. Thanks in Advance, Know more about Messaging :-)

Hi there, Is it a Exchange server hosting in a remote location? Do you have sufficient permission to perform administrative tasks? If yes, we may run the cmdlet below to get storage size: Get-MailboxStattistics Refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124612.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/gary/archive/2010/02/20/the-get-mailboxstatistics-cmdlet-the-totalitemsize-property-and-that-pesky-little-b.aspx For the average send/receive message number, there is no existing tool or method based on my research. You may might need to develop a script with Get-MessageTrackLog. For more information, I'd suggest you post the question in Exchange Development forum for more help. Hi Ashwini, Thanks for your update and clarification. I appreciate your understanding that this is Exchange server forum. For questions that are out of Exchange email system, we are not able to provide a solution. Just for your information, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) might be able to provide a report of the usage of a specific file type. I'd suggest you post the question in Windows Server forum for more professional suggestion. Refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb693873.aspx Regarding the network usage and trace, it is best to post the question in Network forum. Again, your understanding would be appreciated. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support
