I recently upgraded my Windows version to Windows 8 and also installed new Office 2013 pro.

Every time I try to open a file I received in my Outlook (any type of file), it won't open.

As an example, if the extension is ".docx" and I double click it to open, the Microsoft Word opening window shows like it's loading the file, the little dots keep moving and it says: "Opening file in Protected View" but it never opens.

I already let it on for hours and it doesn't open.

If I try to save the file to any folder in the computer and then try to open, it doesn't work either.

Now.. if I save it to an external drive and then try to open, it works!

I already ran an Office 2013 repair and nothing changed.

Anyone with an idea of what this is?

It seems to be a file permission issue. Check if you have the full access permission to the local folder. How about save the attachments to your desktop and then open it from there? If it doesn't work, I would suggest to create a new Windows user account for test.
