Auto-Reply server side
One of my customers is being partiallybought out by another company, I will be consulting with both.
I would like to set up the existing Exchange server to autoreply for users that will be moving informing the sender of their new address.
Is it possible to set up Exchange 2003 to automatically reply to all messages sent to a specific address? This would have to be a server side rule, although there will be OWA for a short time, the users will not be running Outlook once the transition takes place.

I am not sure if this helps as I am not an expert on Exchange. However, I do know that using the rules and alerts function in Outlook you can set up a rule (new rule, then select start from a new rule) to a specific person or distubution group. Once you select the person or distribution group, another window will open allowing you to select the next action. One of those actions is to have the server send a specific message. In that specific message you can put the information you would like to send. Hope this helps. ml

Not an answer to your question, but information you might find useful none the less. Be very careful using any kind of auto-reply like this. If you get very much spam, it is going to auto-reply to every one of them unless you use some kind of filtering. It will only be a matter of time before the forged from address on one of the spams you are replying to matches a spamtrap address at some blocklist or other and your server gets listed.
