Auto-reply from distribution group email id
Hello,
We have Exchange 2010 with SP2 in our environment. I have a distribution group which needs to receive emails and then send auto-reply to the sender. The auto-reply should go to all the senders as many times they send emails.
Currently I can't change the email id of this group.
please suggest how to go about it

hi,
Create a mailbox is the best way i think which can meet your requirement.
If you will, you also can create a transport rule. You can see the below link. Fiona has given you the solution.

CastinLu,
Transport rule will not work, as this will send Undelivered Email message, which we don't want. We want that the sender should know we received the email and we should be in a position to reply to him with a customized 3-4 lines message.

Durkeep,
If we use the method suggested by you, then when the auto-reply is sent it will go from the new email id which we have created and added to this group to send auto-reply. But my requirement is that the reply email id should be the same of group email id
and not the hidden email id.
Please suggest.

You can't have the DG autoreply. It seems like the autoreply address has to be of that DL group?
If it doesn't, then you can use a generic email and create an auto reply (dont forget about the possibiity of mail loops). Add that generic mailbox to the DG, set the autoreply to include something like "Your email to
xxxx@xxx.com has been received.......this mailbox is not monitored do not reply back, if you have further enquiries email xxxx@xxx,com"Sukh
