Auto reply on exchange 2007 for users who have left the organization
Our standard procedure is to retain exited users mailboxes for 30 days. I want to know if there is a way to set up an automatic message reply for anyone emailing users who are no longer in the organization. I know one way is to log into the users mailbox and set up the OOF but i'm wondering if there is a more automated way of doing it. Just trying to avoid logging into every mailbox to set this up as were a bit behind on this process Is there anyway in Exchange 2007 to create a rule per storage group or something along those lines that they would inherit an OOF message? Just looking for more options (if there are any). Thanks in advance!

You can create a DL for the terminated users, and set up a transport rule to bounce messages sent to members of that DL with a custom NDR, saying they're no longer with the company.

Develop a transport agent to with the following spec. 1. Read a data file contain all leaver email address2. scan all incoming which matched the email address in data file and auto reply an email to the sender By using this approach, you don't need to keep addtional AD account and Exchange Mailbox. And using data file approach, it is easy for update and administration.Cheers, Victor Tong (Blog: http://www.0101news.com) MCSE,MCTS,MCITP
