Autodiscover
I need some help with Autodiscover in Exchange 2007 SP1 / Outlook 2007. I have just setup a new CCR cluster. I have 3 test mailboxes on it and I am testing Autodiscover on a Vista test PC with outlook 2007. I have not set up ANYTHING for external use. OWA is working fine for internal users. Internal domain users on domain PCs is all I have so I have not set up any certs. I got a DNS entry added to the domain. An A record called Autodiscover pointing at the IP of one of the CAS servers. I run these test commands on that CAS server as below: [PS] C:\>Test-OutlookWebServices -identity exchange.test2@XXXX.ie | fl Id : 1003 Type : Information Message : About to test AutoDiscover with the e-mail address Exchange.Test2@XXXX.ie. Id : 1006 Type : Information Message : The Autodiscover service was contacted at https://expgpo02.XXXX.net/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml. Id : 1016 Type : Success Message : [EXCH]-Successfully contacted the AS service at https://expgpo02.XXXX.net/EWS/Exchange.asmx. The elapsed time was 31 milliseconds. Id : 1015 Type : Information Message : [EXCH]-The OAB is not configured for this user. Id : 1014 Type : Success Message : [EXCH]-Successfully contacted the UM service at https://expgpo02.XXXX.net/UnifiedMessaging/Service.asmx. The elapsed time was 15 milliseconds. Id : 1006 Type : Success Message : The Autodiscover service was tested successfully. & [PS] C:\>Test-OutlookWebServices Id Type Message -- ---- ------- 1003 Information About to test AutoDiscover with the e-mail add... 1007 Information Testing server expgpo02.anpost.net with the pu... 1019 Information Found a valid AutoDiscover service connection ... 1006 Information The Autodiscover service was contacted at http... 1016 Success [EXCH]-Successfully contacted the AS service a... 1015 Information [EXCH]-The OAB is not configured for this user. 1014 Success [EXCH]-Successfully contacted the UM service a... 1006 Success The Autodiscover service was tested successfully. Then I go to my Outlook 2007 PC, log in and create a new email account. The Autodiscover works perfectly and adds the clustername & resolves the username. The problem is that there is a constant pop up box saying that it is trying to connect to the CAS server and asking for a username & password for the FQDN of the CAS server. If I enter the correct details it pops straight back up. I can click cancel and eventually it stops popping up & after a while the email account is created successfully. When I go to open Outlook the popup returns & is trying to connect to the CAS not the Mailbox cluster. When I test the Email Autoconfiguration, I get a ton of failures. I can still send emails & browse the GAL, even while the popup is there. I know it is something simple but cant find it. Thanks, Andrew

Hi, I found out that the first issue was because of OU restrictions on the OU my test mailboxes were in. I have moved my mail box on the EX07 cluster and gone to the Vista / Outlook 2007 pc. I log on & autodiscover fills in my servername & username fine. Then it asks for a username and password for the domain instead of using my logon info. Outlook opens & all is well however, every time I open outlook or log on, I have to re-enter my domain username & password again at the prompt that says it is the CAS / HUB server looking for my details. When I run the connection test as myself it works fine. I think it is something to do with the HTTPS. The only clients that will be using it are internal so I don't even really need https. Andrew

Dear customer: In order to better troubleshoot the issue, please help collect the following information: On Exchange server 2007, install adsiedit.msc tool and open it, navigate to the following path, DC=<domain>, CN=Configuration, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=<Organization>, CN=Administrative Groups, CN=Exchange Administrative Group, CN=Servers, CN=<CAS Name>, CN=Protocols, CN=Autodiscover, CN=<CAS Name> Right click CAS Name, select attribute editor, select keywords attribute send the screenshot of it to v-rocwan@microsoft.com Select serviceBindingInformation attribute, and send the screenshot of it to me. On client, open Internet Explorer, access https://autodiscover.domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml or https://domain.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml, send the screenshot of the result to me for analyze. Is the Autodiscover virtual directory in the correct application pool (MSExchangeAutodiscoverAppPool)? According to the following steps to enable logging on Outlook 2007, a) Launch Outlook. b) Select Options from the Tools menu. c) Select the Other tab. d) Click the Advanced Options button. e) Enable the Enable logging (troubleshooting) check box. Restart Outlook 2007 and reproduce the issue, when Outlook launches a log file is generated and updated as the launch occurs. This file is located in your users TEMP folder. By default that is in the following location: C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Local Settings\Temp Name of file: olkdisc.log. The fastest way to get there is to follow the following steps: a) Click your Windows Start button. b) Select Run. c) Enter the following: %temp% d) Click OK. Send the log file to me. Note: when you send e-mail to me, please add the subject of the post. Thanks for your cooperation. Rock Wang - MSFT
