Autodiscover confusion!
Hi all,I need a bit of your help. I am configuring Autodiscover in Exchange 2007 to work with outlook 2007 (non-SP1). I have a SRV record published at _autodiscover._tcp.domain.name.com. I perform the following steps:1.) Create new profile2.) Manually configure (Exchange)3.) point to mailbox server4.) resolve name5.) Finish configurationWhen I log into the mailbox for the first time ai get prompted to authenticate to the autodiscover link. Why? This is a completly MAPI profile.I want a MAPI profile to stay as it was manually configured.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!Josh

Hi Josh, I would like to explain that it is by design. When Outlook attempts to locate Autodiscover Service by using SRV records, it accords to the following process: 1. Autodiscover posts to https://contoso.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml. This fails. 2. Autodiscover posts to https://autodiscover.contoso.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml. This fails. 3. Autodiscover performs the following redirect check: GET http://autodiscover.contoso.com/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml This fails. 4. Autodiscover uses DNS SRV lookup for _autodiscover._tcp.contoso.com, and then "mail.contoso.com" is returned. 5. Outlook asks permission from the user to continue with Autodiscover to post to https://mail.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml. 6. Autodiscover's POST request is successfully posted to https://mail.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml. For detailed information, please refer to the following KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940881/en-us Nevertheless, if I misunderstood your situation, could you please provide more information regarding the prompted to authenticate to the autodiscover link?
