Autodiscover for External Users
I have few questions related to Autodiscover in Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007/2010
1) If my machine is connected to office network and I try to configure my outlook it will be configured automatically but
2) If my machine is connected over internet and user is logged in with Active Directory credentials then how autodiscover will work? and
30 If my machine is connected over the internet but user is not logged in with Active Directory credentials but wants his outlook to be configured automatically using autodiscover feature and also wants to user OOF feature. How autodiscover is going to work
here?Best Regards, Parveen Email- prvpnr@hotmail.com

It will use the domain name of the user's e-mail address to query DNS
for domain/autodiscover/... or autodiscover.domain/...

The same way. It isn't the credentials, it's the e-mail address that
autodiscover uses.

Hello,
I think the article is very useful.
Exchange 2007 Autodiscover Service
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332063(v=exchg.80).aspx
But if you dont use domain account, autodiscover will be failed.

Hi Rich,
Thanks for the reply. I have one more question. Is it necessasry that Outlook anywhere should be working fine if I am trying to use autodiscover from outside?
Actually what is happening that if I connect my laptop through Dragnet then autodiscover is working fine but if I try to configure my outlook automatically without connecting dragnet then it is not working.
Although I am logged in with my Active Directory credentials.

Outlook Anywhere works perfectly well from the Internet -- provided
your DNS is pubishing the correct information.
You can visit https://testexchangeconnectivity.com and check to see
whether yours is working or not. The diagnostics from the site are
very helpful.

Besides being a TV police drama, I don't know what "Dragnet' is.

If you're "logged in" then you're using a VPN, right?
You don't have to be using your domain credentials on the machine for
AutoDiscover to work. If the credentials aren't those for the mailbox
you'll be asked to provide the credentials.
