Automatically replying to an email from an alias
I am wondering if this is possible using Exchange07/10 with Outlook 2010... I have 1 mailbox that has multiple aliases. Lets call them primary1, alias1, alias2, and alias3 When an email comes in for any of these accounts it gets delivered to the primary1 mailbox I want to be able to reply to any of the emails but have the reply-from address be the initial recipient(or alias) ONLY Scenario: Joe has his personal mailbox (joe@company.com) and also has accountmgmt@company.com and customerservice@company.com as alias'. When an email comes in to Joe's Inbox addressed to accountmgmt@company.com, I want him to be able to reply from the accountmgmt@company.com email address ONLY. I do not want him to have the option to use the From dropdown and possibly choose the wrong reply-from address. I know that Outlook 2010 allows multiple Exchange connecitons but I do not want to use individual mailboxes as this setup will need to be used by dozens(possibly hundreds) of users for hundreds of email addresses. Plus, quality control is much easier when everything is in one mailbox, instead of 12.

Not possible natively. As far as Exchange is concerned, the user only has one email address - the default. All email that is sent from that mailbox will go as that mailbox. The other email addresses are aliases for inbound email only. If you want to be able to send as alternative email addresses then you are looking at two options. 1. Multiple mailboxes. 2. A third party product called Choose From from ivasoft.biz. I think it supports the later versions of Exchange and Outlook, but I haven't checked recently. Thanks for the reply, Sembee. I usually see you lurking on Petri - not here! :-) I have set this up on Outlook 2010 by using multiple mailboxes but the problem I am having is that the user can click on the 'From' dropdown and change the sending account. I am trying to eliminate human error in my agents and the only way to do it is to restrict operational access to features. I'll check out that other software. Thanks!

Ivasoft has a bunch of great products but I would like to chat with somebody. Do you have any contact info for the place? Their website is not very informative.

I know the author used to be active on Experts Exchange, but I haven't had any direct communication with anyone to provide contact details. There is an email address on the web site that you could try. Hardly lurk on petri, I mod two of the forums there! Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/
