Backup Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008
I was wondering if it was possible to do an exchange backup on SBS 2008 without having to do an import/export of mailboxes. For example, I had a failed migration and I want to restore the server from a backup, but recover all email within the time the backup was made to todays date. I know its possible to do it via import/export .pst commands in exchange shell but I was wondering if there was a more quicker/easier process to complete this?I know in server 2003 there was an NTBackup why did they get rid of this in 2008?

Not completely sure about what you are after. Do you mean to restore to a Recovery Storage Group on SBS 2008?How to use a Recovery Storage Group in SBS 2008http://blogs.technet.com/sbs/archive/2009/01/26/how-to-use-a-recovery-storage-group-in-sbs-2008.aspx
Some limitationsThe Exchange 2007 RSG does not support mounting mailbox databases from previous versions of Exchange Server. The target mailbox must be in the same forest as the mailbox database that is mounted in the RSG.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124039(EXCHG.80).aspx

So, you want to restore the exchange server from the backup, and keep all messages from backup time slot to current time, right?
If the transaction log sequence didn’t change after the time slot of backup, and all transaction log files are still available after that backup, the hard recovery should be able to replay the log files into recovered database from backup
The backup function is back in the exchange 2007 SP2
