Backup Exchange servers
Hello,
I use Windows server 2003 and Exchange 2007.
I have 2 HubCas, 2 Mailbox servers, 2 Edge and 2 ISA Servers.
I would like to know if there are any backup strategy I should create or important files I should save in case of any crash?
If there is any files or manipulation to backup, please let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Graig

Hi,
For Exchange server 2007, the main job is to backup the transaction logs in Mailbox server. But for other roles, you also need to backup the corresponding configuration data:
1. The data that needs protecting by backup for the Client Access server is located in several places:
Exchange server configuration stored in Active DirectoryConfiguration files stored in the file system (C:Program FilesMicrosoftExchangeClientAccess)IIS customizations stored in the IIS metabase
2. In HUB, you need to back up System State as well as the Message Tracking and protocol logs, which are located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\TransportRoles\Logs.
You can refer to the following link to see the detail data that needs to backup for the different roles:

Hope it helps.
