Hi,Event Log is a good place to see if any issue encounter in backup success or failure, I belive Tivoli log should also tell you cause. For checking your DB health , you can use tool "eseutil.exe" /MH (DB should be dismount).http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998249(EXCHG.80).aspxAnil

Yes, and normally, if you run a full backup or incremental backup, the transaction logs which has been committed todatabase will be purged. Please check the transaction logs directory.Frank Wang
