Backup server in real-time

Hi,

Just wondering is it possible to backup the exchange 2013 data in real-time.

So it would have two servers, when one gets new information like new mail the backup would get it too.

create a backup server that stores the deleted items

Thank you!

Or can you have a backup server for deleted items. I know when you delete a mailbox on exchange 2013 it stores it temporarily for 30 days.

How can I create a backup server that stores the deleted items (so when its deleted in first server it gets stored in backup server or something)

I know you can create a mailbox database copy in eac. But i cant seem to copy anything. Would this feature be of any help in my case?

Thank you!

A DAG with multiple copies of each database would accomplish having a real time copy (or as close to as real time as you can get) of your Database.

As for your question about deleted mailboxes... I see 2 options..

The first would be to stand up a new mailserver and before removing the mailboxes, you can move them to that new mailbox.  The second would be to use a third party backup program to run a backup of the databases and keep those backups for however long you need/want to keep them for.

If you need a real-time protection you have to think about high-availability. HA is achieved by Database Availability Groups (DAG) in Exchange. For disaster recovery you have to think about backup solutions like System Center 2012 R2 Data Protection Manager or 3rd party backup solution. Also you can implement Messaging Records management in your company as well.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply! About the DAG group how would I approach this? After I set it up would I go into databases and create a mailbox database copy? Because I can't seem to find this option.

Edit: Because when I look online when ppl press the more button there is an option to copy the database but for some reason I dont have it

And about the deleted mailboxes if I made a new mailserver and moved the mailboxes to that mailserver. Is there a way to automate the process or would it have to be manual.

Thank you.

You need to setup a DAG first, then you can create the database copies.
