Backup stuck on 'performing consistency check for application exhcnage'
Hi I have a fresh SBS 2011 box running on Dell T610, 32 GB Ram, RAID 0 15k SAS drives. The problem I'm seeing is the backup Bare Metal Image hangs on the 'performing consistency check for application exhcnage'. I have left it two hours and still the same. I've read on other forums many logs to process can cause this delay but inside my mailbox folder I only see 6 .log files to process so this probably isn't the issue. List VSS writers from elevated prompt doesn't show an error on the exchange writer. Can I please have some ideas where to go next with tracking down the cause of the issue. Thanks

Hi. i am using backup assist but yes, it's using built in Windows Backup. If I open Windows Server Backup I see the same status 'performing consistency check for application exchange'. Close to four hours running now. IS is mounted with staff able to use Outlook with no obvious issues.

Are you sure there's only 6 log file, then would i ndicate only 6MB worth, doesn't seem realistic, check the location of your transactions log file and confirm. I assume your're doing a full backup? It could be the log files have been flushed bar them 6Sukh

hi That does seem to be correct path, the're about 20 in there now as + 10 GMT new mail is flowing into the store. 5.25 hours and no progress. The box is showing no processor activity and eseutil isn't showing under ProcExp either which apparently it would be if logs were being read/delaying the start of backup

Check Application event logs for ESE and VSS and see if any warnings/errors are logged in these category events. Sudhir Bidye. Hello rjeeves 33, Add to checking the application log for VSS errors, Check for the disk performance using the perfmon. Also we can manually Validate Backup Integrity By Using Eseutil http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb891802(v=EXCHG.140).aspx
