Best practice for shared group calendars?
Looking for the best way to create a shared calendar for a group in our company. I know I can can create a calendar in the public folders and just assign the appropriate permissions. We use Sharepoint services 3.0, which I'd rather use, but the employees need to be able to create meeting requests, not just appointments, which you cannot do using a Sharepoint calendar. So, my issue is, I've heard that the next release of Exchange (whatever is after 2010) is going to do away with public folders. I want to plan for the future so I don't have to get rid of a lot of public folders a few years down the road. Is there any better/alternate way to accomplish this?

The exchange products after 2003 have introduced the resource mailboxes (Room/Equipment), which is introduced for such purpose The support of public folder will continue at least 2016 As I know, SharePoint can create meeting request, as I’m not an expert on such field. Please use the SharePoint related forum to confirm it James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
