Best solution for pop3 mail accounts and backup?
The situation I have is a handful of remote users using pop3 mail accounts (all under same domain) who want to backup their email. They are all in different places and currently data is backed up using sync software on their computers to a remote server. We need to backup their email as well but the PST files are quite large and having to upload xGB each day is too much, incremental backup is a problem because its a single file and the software tries to upload the whole thing each time. Is it possible to setup the email on the remote server using exchange in some way so that I only need to backup from here?

What's the easiest way to install Exchange as not on the remote server? Is it costly as I expect this is the reason still on POP3?

You have posted in an Exchange forum, so I have presumed that you had Exchange already in place. There is little information in your original question so I have had to make some assumptions. If you don't already have Exchange installed then you have opened a large "can of worms" - PST files are practically impossible to backup in a reliable manner, but deploying something like Exchange is not something to be done lightly, due to the cost and impact on email flow for the entire company. I actually posted in Windows Server but the post was moved. My current plan would be to use the same hosting company that hosts the remote server for Exchange Mail, import the mail for everyone and use this instead. Does this sound best?

If the current provider has a hosted Exchange product then that may well be the easiest to implement as they should be able to cope with the co-existence arrangements between the two email platforms. If you are using the provider just to host a "server" and you have implemented your own POP3 server on top of that, then the same considerations I made above apply, because Exchange is a complex product. If you have no experience with it, then engaging a consultant would be the best option, as there are many paths that you could take. Simon. Stop using POP3. If you have Exchange, import the email in to Exchange server, then switch the user to Outlook Anywhere in Outlook. The email can then be backed up via Exchange backups. If you aren't using Exchange then I would consider either deploying Exchange or switching those users to a hosted Exchange platform. Simon.
