Which version of Exchange do you use? Exchange 2007: You can create a transport rules to block sending mails to an email address. Exchange 2003: This is bit tricky. ~ Create a group "All User" with all users of your environment and hide it into GAL. You can use anyone if you have already with all users. ~ Create a Contact for the external email address and hide it in address list. ~ Now main portion, in Exchange General of Contact -> Message Restrictions and set "From Everyone Except" with the group "All User" created in first step...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Thanks Amit,Its exchange 2003, sorry about that.Wow that is tricky. I can't believe there is no way of just adding an external email address that can be blocked.Cheers.

Agreed with Amit, with exchange 2007, we can easily achieve such function by using transport rule As the method in the exchange 2003, I spent some time in the lab, and proved that Amits suggestion would be the best way for it

I just find another method: Create a spam mailbox, and then change its SMTP address to that external address, uncheck "Automatically update email address based recipient policy". Then, all the mails send to that external address will be routed to spam mailbox. And you can monitor the mail flow to figure out who has sent mails to that external address, or, you can set delivery restriction on that spam mailbox, so the incoming mails will be rejected

Thanks James,That is a really good way of doing it. Should have exchange 2007 upby the end of the month. Sounds like it is going to be really nice.
