Branch Office Exchange 2007
Hi there, At the HQ we have a Exchange 2007 with all the roles installed and in use. Now at a smaller branch office (200 users) we wish to install another exchange 2007 server with just the mailbox role installed for performance reasons locally. These users also need to be able to access OWA and Activesync, through the HQ connection. Is this Simply a matter of installing a new exchange 2007 mailbox role server at the branch office (with a local GC DC to support it), and Exchange will automaticly handle all traffic in between, or do we need to consider extras? The servers will be within the same forest and domain, but different subnets.Imagine ICT, Next Level Solutions. http://www.imagineict.nl

Hi, Exchange 2007 is AD site aware, and I assume the branch is in a seperate AD site? If so, then you also need to deploy the CAS and HTS roles as well. For clarification: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996299(EXCHG.80).aspx Edit: Update to answer the rest of your question - The HTS will handle mail flow between the sites. For publishing OWA/Activesync you'll use CAS-CAS Proxying. Hi there, I tried it first with just the mailbox role, but with this OWA or Active Sync indeed doesnt work. Then I also installed the CAS role on the branche office. Now I was able to login to owa but couldnt route mails. Then I also installed the HTS, and now all works fine. Mail and OWA / Active Sync come in through the head office and are routed to the branch office. Note: I had to enable another authentication method on the virtual site (i believe integrated, or basic?) to get the authentication working from the headoffice owa to the branchoffice.Imagine ICT, Next Level Solutions. http://www.imagineict.nl
