Broken OMA & ActiveSync / asking for certs? I Don't want to give certs.
I was off Wednesday and one of our techs messed up the OWA, OMA & ActiveSynchWe have an Exchange 2003 Enterprise on Windows 2003.Until Wednesday everything worked fine. I came in Thursday and this is what had happened:Exchange worked fine... but the OWA was down.I fixed the OWA.The OWA URL is subdomain.domain.com/exchangeOWA is working fine now.The windows Mobile dvices used to connect by using OMA... on the mobile device, for Outlook Settings I would put subdomain.domain.com & then ID & Password and everything was fine... synch and all.Now here is the problem:He installed MobileAdmin and then removed which I think hosed some things.I put the Mobile Admin back in (we never had it before and we never used the push technoogy before)Now, all the mobile devices say "the exchange server requires certificate to log on. connect your device to your pc on the corporate network..."That's not an option for us. most of the mobile users never touch the network.I tried going to the url subdomain.domain.com/certsrv to see if i can get a cert and no good. What I want to do is take the system back to the way it was... no personal certs for mobile devices.I'd like to have it like before when I could just enter the url and the id & pswd on the mobile device and it would synch...HELP? I'm stumped.Thanks.

Hello, Please try to fix this issue by importing certificate in the server into mobile device. Step 1: Export certificate from Server.1. Start MMC on the Exchange server.2. Please add "Certificates" Snap-in and associate to "Local Computer" account3. In the "Personal\Certificates" or "Trusted Root Certification Authorities\Certificates container", please double click to open the certificate you used for ActiveSync.4. In the Details tab, please right click the certificate, click All Tasks to export your root certificate to DER type certificate with a *.cer file.Step 2: Copying the Certificate File to the Device1. Log on to a client computer that has ActiveSync installed.2. Copy the certificate you exported in Step 1 to this workstation.3. Navigate to Mobile Device under My Computer. By default, the contents of the My Documents folder on the device are displayed.4. Right-click the content area and click Paste to copy the certificate file to the device.Step 3: Installing the Certificate on the Device1. On the Windows Mobile device, open File Explorer (for Pocket PCs) or File Manager (for Smartphones).Note: File Explorer is present at Start\Programs on Pocket PCs.2. Find the certificate file you just copied to the My Documents folder on the device and run the file by either tapping the file name or pressingENTER while the file is selected.3. Click Yes on the confirmation message box to install the certificate. If the issue persists, please let me know the exact error you encountered on the device. Hope this helps, thanks, Elvis
