Busy/Free schedule and OAB errors after migration 2003 to 2007
It looks like there was a step missed in the migration from exchange 2003 to 2007 which was the replication of the public folders. On the old exchange 2003 server there were no user created public folders and is the reason this step was missed in the migration. The exchange 2003 servers are no longer available to bring back online. The application log is filled with the following errors on the new exchange 2007 server: EventID: 8207 Name: MSExchangeFBPublish Error updating public folder with free/busy information on virtual machine MYMAIL. The error number is 0x80070005. and EventID: 8206 Name:EXCDO Calendaring agent failed with error code 0x80150856 while saving appointment. I have deleted and recreated the OAB and pointed it to the new exchange 2007 server with the same issues. The system public folders look like a mess as well and am not sure what can be deleted to be automatically recreated, below is a screen shot. The items with a red line at the end are the objects I want to delete, re-mount the public folders and have it recreate any objects that its missing. Some of the other items in red are still associated with the old exchange 2003 server. I found conflicting info on this with Microsoft technet articles stating that if some of the needed objects are deleted, exchange will recreate them at next mount and other documentation stating that will have adverse affects on the exchange server. Which is it? Please help ... more grey hair after day 2 of MS surgery!

Hi gfk123, Are there any outlook 2003 used in your scenario, and do you still use the public folder database? If there are no, I would remove the public folder database relevant information. Because you have not remove the exchange 2003 follow the mormal way, exchange email system still treat the server as a corrupted server, and try to replicate public folders between them. Or, could you please confirm the exchange 2003 information all be remove from the DC, how to remove the server information, please refer to below: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg576862.aspx http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/remove-exchange-server-entire-exchange-organization.html Regards! Looks like things have become worse. More errors in the event log Every 10 minutes I get EventID 9543 Source: MSExchangeIS Unable to create Public Folder proxy object for folder "Offline Address Book - Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)" in the Active Directory. Unable to create Public Folder proxy object for folder "Offline Address Book - First Administrative Group" in the Active Directory. EventID 8208 Source: EXCDO Calendaring agent failed with error code 0x80150856 while expanding recurring appointments. EventID 8197 Source: MSExchangeFBPublish Error initializing session for virtual machine WGBMAIL03. The error number is 0x80040111. Make sure Microsoft Exchange Store is running. Also, make sure that there is a valid public folder database on the Exchange server. I also do have access to view any information when expanding the Default Public Folders or System Public Folders. I'm assuming there is a permission issue in AD. Is there an MS doc that shows what the permissions needs to be for ADSIEDIT for exchange 2007? Gulab - I have followed those articles provided bust still have the same issues. Thanks,

Hi Gfk123, This KB might help you. Users who use Outlook 2003 cannot publish their free/busy data in Exchange Server 2010 or in Exchange Server 2007 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945602Martina Miskovic

Hi gfk123, If you still want to use the public folder database, you could follow as below: Per your description, you have followed the http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd361736(EXCHG.80).aspx to recreate the public folder hierarchy, right? Please confirm that you do that in the correct administrative group in which exchange 2007 server hosted. That means the exchange email system exacly missed the publicfolder hierarchy, right? Did you restart the IS service, and please also confirm two value should be same. one value: lanch to properties of the newyly created "public folders" tree object in ADSIEDIT, find the ditinguishednamem, and copy it other one value: find the public folder database on the new exchange 2007 server in ADSIEDIT, lanch the properties of the database -> find the msExchOwningPFTree attribute, If they are different, pleae paste it. Then you could restart the IS service, or reboot the server, and make some tests. could you please also confirm the questiones I asked above, did you remove all the information about the exchange 2003 server? Regards! Gavin

OK, after 3 hour on the phone with MS support everything is fixed and running without errors. There were quite a few issues that needed to be resolved but the originating source of all issues is not enough permissions as the user making change in the exchange environment. There were security changes that had to be made in the registry and adsiedit. msExchOwningPFTree attribute also had mixed attributes which have been corrected. Thank you for all your comments and help!
