Cached Mode Problem - Help
Hi,
I have an Exchange 2007 SP2 an UR 4 for SP2 and clients have Microsoft Outlook 2007.
Some clients have Outlook Anywhere and Cached Mode enabled and a strange problem occurs when I create Distribution Groups, the users do not see the new Groups.
I have updated the Address List but the problem persists.
Only users that dont have Cached Mode enable can see the just created Distribution Group.
Anyone already had that problem?
If anyone can help me I appreciate.

After you generate an address list, the offline address book generation has to run, then Outlook has to download that refreshed OAB before cached mode users will see the updates. Check your OAB generation schedule first.

As Ed has already told that u will have to first generate the OAB ( u can see here how to generate it:Manually Generating Offline Address Book
on Exchange 2007/2010)
and then in OL goto Tools->Send Recieve->Download Address Book
It will then fetch the recent OAB.
By default OL downloads the OAB either after 24 hours or when u restart the outlook.

Hi Ed,
When I do that the Distribution Group doesn´t appear and no error is showed.
When I disable the Cached Mode I can see the Group, when I enable the Cache Mode and the information is being downloaded I can see de Group but at the end of download I can not see it again.
Must I wait for 24 hours after creating the Group If the user has Cached Mode enable?
Thanks Ed.
Best Regards.

Thanks for the help.

You should check the event log on the server that's configured to generate the OAB for errors. You can manually force the OAB generation using Update-OfflineAddressList.

exchange produces a new OAB once a day by default i believe. Here at work we have it every 4 hours (not a full, but incremental).
Ive seen issues where a slew of clients were not downloading the new book after the new OAB was created and the client did Send/receive>download address book.
The support team had to delete the .oab files on the local machine, start outlook. the new files downloaded and all was good from then.
never really found the cause, but there was the server side was good.

Hi
Open outlook | Click Tools | Send and Recieve | Download Address Book.
This did the trick when ever users were not able to see the newly created user' sor groups.
Thanks
