Can't connect to another user's calendar
Hello, <o:p></o:p>
Some of my users need to print daily calendar entries and post them in front of the door to one of our conference rooms.<o:p></o:p>
Lately, when they try to open the conference room's calendar, they get the "The connection to
Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must
be online or connected
to complete this action" error message. I tried detect and repair Office and it didn't help. I tried
uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2003 and it didn't work.<o:p></o:p>
We are running Exchange 2010 and those users run Windows XP with Outlook 2003. I tested it on my workstation, which is Windows 7 with Outlook 2007 and it works fine.<o:p></o:p>
Any help would be appreciated.<o:p></o:p>
Thank you,<o:p></o:p>

On your machine with Outlook 2007 export the outlook key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook
Then import it into one of the 2003 users and test and observe.
Make a backup of the 2003 user's regkey as best practice before mucking around.James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Hello, sorry for not being able to post my findings earlier.
Before I was able to import the Outlook 2007 profile into Outlook 2003, the problem disappeared.
I'm afraid this is an intermittent issue, possibly related to the fact that just recently, we removed the last legacy Exchange server from our network. This may have caused some undesired issues that we are still to discover.
Ill import the Outlook 2007 profile the next time users experience this issue and report back. This might take a while though.
Thank you for the help,

Possibly but if you didnt decom your last 2003 correctly or accidently removed the 2003 admin group then you can possibly run into free busy issues or other issues if certain services still reference that legacydn of the admin
group.
I bet if you look into the outlook profiles keys in the registry of the non working users, you will likely see some keys referencing the old legacydn, now if you deleted the 2003 admin group (some admins have made this mistake in the past) then this could
probably cause the issue you're seeing.
Note: When you check Active Directory with ADSIEdit youll notice that the old Exchange Server 2003 Administrative Group is still present, although empty. Do not remove this Administrative Group unless youre absolutely sure theres no object
in Active Directory referencing this Administrative Group in the ExchangeLegacyDN attribute. For more information please check this Microsoft knowledgebase article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/945602 - Users who use Outlook 2003 cannot publish their free/busy data in Exchange Server 2007.
