Can't get rid of exchange 2003 public folder database in exchange 2007
We are trying to retire our legacy exchange 2003 servers. I've done a move on all the public folders, and with the exception of globalevents, it looks like all the 2003 instances are gone now, and there are no public folders showing on the 2003 server in ESM anymore. However, when I do a get-offlineaddressbook on my 2007 server, the 4th line down is PublicFolderDatabase, and it's got my exchange 2003 mailbox server listed there- PublicFolderDatabase : NAMEOF2003SERVER\First Storage Group\Public Folder Store (NAMEOF2003SERVER) How do I change this? I want exchange 2003 gone. I've changed the settings on all the mailbox store client settings for default public folder database to go to exchange 2007, but this setting is still there in the offline addressbook.

Deleting public folder databases is a bit tricky. Try this: Removing Public Folder Databases: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc164367(EXCHG.80).aspx Make sure that you follow all of these steps.

I actually ended up calling support- they verified that everything had replicated to 2007 and then told me to try dismounting the public folder store on 2003 and see if anything in outlook broke. So far it seems ok- they didn't know whether that entry would ever go away in 2007 though, and said it didn't matter as long as the stores on 2007 were set to the 2007 server for the public folders and OAB. Beyond that they told me to delete the .stm and .edb files, and then recreate and delete the 2003 public store if I still wanted to remove theitfrom ESM.
