After working in an existing file in Excel 2013 once in a while a user can't save as a new name. He goes on File and Save as....he can put a new name but when he clicks on Save it does nothing.

In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
- Was there any error message while saving as?
- Were there any special characters of the new name?
- Where did the user save as the file? Local disk or network drive?
- Did this issue occur with the particular file?
If this issue occur with the particular file, it might be caused by the file corrupted. Please try to copy add the content to a new/blank file and then save it.
Next, if this issue occur with the other files, it might be caused by the user profile corrupted, Please try to re-create a new and test.

- Were there any special characters of the new name? No we try to rename to different names also
- Where did the user save as the file? Local disk or network drive? We try on the netwok and locally
- Did this issue occur with the particular file? It can happen with any files
We also notice that when this happens.any attachments in Outlook cant be open

Thanks for your response. I suppose this issue may be caused by the Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE), please try to turn off the "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) setting.
- Click the File tab, and then click Options.
- Click Advanced, scroll down to the General section, and then clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box in the General area.
- Click OK.
If this issue still exists, as I have mentioned above, it might be caused by the user profile corrupted. Do you mind creating a new user account/profile to test? It'll help us narrow down this issue whether it is due to Excel or user profile.
